How it works

Two ways to fly

02

Start a trip

You pick where and when. You book the aircraft, and release the seats you do not need. Every seat another member books comes off your cost.

Why members can count on it

Our aircraft. Our crews. Your money, protected.

We fly it ourselves

Citizen Air holds its own FAA Part 135 certificate. Not a broker reselling someone else's aircraft.

Your money is protected

Flight funds are held in escrow with an independent escrow agent, backed by a $200,000 standby letter of credit on file with the US DOT.

More than the flying

Take 10 percent off charters beyond the SoundPass area.

Your payment is held until you fly.

Every payment for a SoundPass seat goes into a segregated escrow account at The Huntington National Bank, administered by Avitrust Partners as escrow agent. The money is not ours and is not available to us until after your flight is completed. A $200,000 standby letter of credit, issued in favor of the U.S. Department of Transportation, sits behind the account.

This applies to SoundPass seats, which are public charters under 14 CFR Part 380. A charter booked with your member discount is an ordinary private charter: it is not escrowed and does not carry Part 380 protections. We tell you which one you are booking before you pay.

Good to know

Questions members ask

Can I look before I join?
Yes. A free account shows every open flight, with the price and the seats left, including empty legs from our charter trips. Booking a seat takes a Household or Business membership.
Do I have to share my flight?
No. When you start a trip you book all three seats and choose whether to release the ones you are not using. Releasing a seat is what lowers your price. Fly alone and keep the whole aircraft, or let the network fill the seats.
Which aircraft will I fly on?
You book an aircraft class, not a specific aircraft. Utility means a Cessna 172, a Cessna 206 or the Tecnam P2012. High-Performance means a Cirrus SR22. Every flight operates under Citizen Air's FAA Part 135 certificate with Citizen Air crews.
What if I have a disability or travel with a service dog?
You fly on the same terms as any other member. Add what you need to the trip when you book, or email soundpass@flycitizenair.com, and we plan the aircraft and the boarding around it; a service dog rides in the cabin at no charge, and no member's seating preference can keep a service dog or the person it travels with off a flight. Our accessibility page covers boarding, wheelchairs, medical devices and the app.
What if my plans change?
Cancel and provide a substitute traveler and you receive a full refund less a $25 administrative fee. Otherwise the cancellation windows for your membership apply; the SoundPass Terms set them out. If Citizen Air cancels a flight, you receive a full refund.
When am I charged, and where does the money go?
Household members book by card. Business members are invoiced by default, with a card option. Either way, your seat payment is held in escrow with an independent escrow agent until after you fly, and we identify at booking whether a trip is a SoundPass public charter or an ordinary private charter.
Can I fly to Canada?
Victoria, British Columbia is inside the SoundPass service area. Cross-border trips need a valid passport for every traveler, and we confirm the customs requirements with you when you book.
Is SoundPass a charter?
A SoundPass seat is a public charter under 14 CFR Part 380, with escrow and the protections that come with it. Your membership also takes 10 percent off ordinary private charters beyond the SoundPass area; those are not escrowed, and we tell you which one you are booking before you pay.
