Cargo, flown today.Ramp to ramp.

Parts for a grounded aircraft, specimens for a lab, documents that need a signature by five o'clock, supplies for an island. Citizen Air flies them on our own aircraft under our Part 135 certificate, with passengers or on a flight of their own, and we are authorized to carry dangerous goods.

What we fly

When the drive takes too long.

Most of what we carry is small, urgent and going somewhere a courier van reaches by ferry or not at all. If it fits the aircraft and the regulations allow it, we can usually have it in the air the same day.

Aviation

Aircraft parts and AOG

A part for an aircraft on the ground at another airport, a component going to or from a shop, tooling for a field repair. Aircraft parts often count as dangerous goods; tell us what it is and we sort out how it ships.

Medical

Medical and lab shipments

Specimens, samples, supplies and pharmaceuticals between clinics, hospitals and labs. Many travel in dry ice or as regulated biological materials, which we accept when they are packed and declared correctly.

Business

Documents and time-critical freight

Contracts that need a signature today, equipment for a job site, a replacement part for a line that is down. One call, one aircraft, one person accountable for it.

Remote

Island, outfitter and remote supply

Groceries, gear and equipment for the San Juans, the coast and backcountry strips, for lodges, outfitters and the people who live there.

Anything else

Ask us

If you are not sure whether it can fly, send us what it is, how big and how heavy. We will tell you plainly whether we can carry it, and how.

How it moves

Three ways to send it.

You bring the shipment to the departure ramp, and the person receiving it collects it from the aircraft or the FBO at the other end. Every shipment is quoted for the trip before it flies.

01

Ramp to ramp

Drop it at the Citizen Air desk inside the Fairchild terminal, or at the FBO at the departure airport we agree on. We load it, fly it and hand it over on the ramp at the destination.

02

Riding with passengers

Ordinary cargo can share a flight with passengers when the weight and space allow, which is often the fastest and least expensive way to move it. Dangerous goods never ride with passengers.

03

A dedicated cargo flight

The whole aircraft for your shipment, on your schedule. The way dangerous goods always fly with us, and the right choice when it cannot wait for a passenger trip.

Dangerous goods

We carry hazardous materials. Carefully.

Citizen Air, LLC is a will-carry operator: our FAA operations specifications (OpSpec A055) authorize us to accept and transport hazardous materials, and our crews and ramp staff are trained to accept, handle and refuse them.

  • You prepare it. The shipper identifies, classifies, packages, marks and labels the shipment under 49 CFR or the ICAO Technical Instructions, and provides two copies of the shipping papers with the required certification.
  • We check it. Every shipment goes through our acceptance checklist before it is loaded. The pilot is present for loading, inspects each package and is told in writing what is aboard and where.
  • It flies alone. In our aircraft the cargo is within reach of the cabin, so flights carrying dangerous goods carry no other passengers.
  • Where we accept it. At our base at Fairchild, Port Angeles. Other airports by arrangement before the flight.
  • What we refuse. Anything damaged or leaking, anything undeclared or wrongly described, anything forbidden by air, and anything our crew is not certain can be carried within the rules. When in doubt, it does not fly.

Often hazardous, rarely obvious.

Many ordinary shipments contain regulated materials. If yours includes any of these, tell us when you ask for a quote.

Cargo FAQs

Questions shippers ask

How fast can it fly?
Often the same day, depending on aircraft and crew availability and the weather. For anything that has to move today, call +1 (360) 452-6226 rather than sending the form.
How is cargo priced?
Each shipment is quoted for the trip. A dedicated flight is priced like a charter, for the whole aircraft; cargo riding with passengers usually costs less. You see the price before it flies.
How much can you carry?
It depends on the aircraft, the distance, the fuel and anyone else aboard, so we confirm the fit for each shipment. Send the piece count, total weight and the size of the largest piece and we will tell you which aircraft takes it.
Can you pick up from my door?
We fly ramp to ramp. Bring the shipment to our desk in the terminal, or to the agreed FBO at the departure airport, and the receiver collects it on the ramp or at the FBO at the other end.
Do you carry dangerous goods?
Yes. Citizen Air is a will-carry operator under FAA OpSpec A055. The shipper prepares and declares the shipment; we check it against our acceptance checklist, and it flies on a dedicated cargo flight. We refuse anything damaged, leaking, undeclared or forbidden by air.
Can my shipment fly on a passenger flight?
Ordinary cargo can, when the weight and space allow. Dangerous goods cannot; they fly on a cargo flight with no other passengers aboard.
Can you fly a patient?
Yes, on a charter, if the patient can travel as an ordinary passenger. We are not an air ambulance and carry no medical crew or equipment. See Charter.
What about the value of my shipment?
Tell us what it is worth when you ask for a quote. We confirm how it is covered before it flies.
